HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 c1135
65. Mr. Astor

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it is a matter of common practice for the Tithe Redemption Commission to send out Form No. 1142A; and for what exact purpose.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

Only when necessary; to obtain information as to the name and address of the occupier of a particular property.

Mr. Astor

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the public will receive this information with the greatest suspicion? It is a roundabout way of getting it.

Mr. Hall

There is nothing roundabout in this. It is essential that the particulars should be obtained, and it is only when a change is found to have occurred that particulars are sought.
