HC Deb 11 March 1947 vol 434 c1135
64. Mr. Marples

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that, in the case of which particulars have been furnished by the hon. Member for Wallasey, Customs Duty and Purchase Tax were required to be paid on the import of undressed furs being gifts, and that Purchase Tax was required to be paid again on the furs being made up, thus involving double taxation on the same articles; and whether the amount of Purchase Tax paid on entry will be repaid.

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. Glenvil Hall)

I am considering the matter, and will communicate with the hon. Member.
