HC Deb 10 March 1947 vol 434 c926
4. Mr. Douglas Marshall

asked the Minister of Works what is the cost so far borne on the Vote of his Department during the period commencing October, 1945, and ending January, 1947, on account of increased charges of delivery of Belgian bricks to the sites of local authorities, over and above the cost of British bricks.

Mr. Key

No purchases of Belgian bricks on Government account were made before June, 1946. Up to 31st January, 1947. the cost to Public Funds was £207,500.

Mr. Marshall

Is the Minister aware that this is a hidden subsidy on housing, and will he say what other housing subsidies are hidden in this Vote?
