§ 54. Mr. Gerald Williamsasked the Minister of Agriculture when he expects to introduce legislation to assist allotment holders.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsI can hold out no hope of the early introduction of legislation to amend the Allotment Acts, but I propose shortly to consider, in consultation with interested bodies, the points that should be dealt with in such legislation when the opportunity arises.
§ Mr. G. WilliamsIs the Minister aware that security of tenure is just as important for allotment holders as for the farmers, and that allotment holders are tired of being treated as the pets of consecutive Ministers in wartime and being completely neglected in peacetime?
§ Mr. T. WilliamsI hope that they are not going to be neglected in peacetime.
§ Mr. BerryIs my right hon. Friend aware that the last legislation affecting allotment holders dates back to 1926, and does not he think it high time that new legislation was introduced?
