§ 36. Mr. Grimstonasked the Secretary of State for War if he will reconsider the request of the Westbury Urban District Council for the Leighton sports ground at Westbury. Wiltshire.
§ Mr. J. FreemanThis question has been re-examined but, as the hon. Member has been informed, I regret that it is not possible to alter the previous decision.
§ Mr. GrimstonHaving regard to the fact that this ground is very little used by the Army, is it not possible to make it available to the council with some security of 1130 tenure, so that they can develop it as a local recreation ground which is badly needed in the town?
§ Mr. FreemanThis ground belongs to the Army and is not being used extensively at the moment. I think it will be used extensively in the near future. In the meantime, I am only too anxious that we should be able to accommodate the local council, and if they will get together with the local military authorities, I will do the best I can to ensure that they get facilities.
