HC Deb 01 July 1947 vol 439 c1120
14. Colonel Wheatley

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware of the untidy and unkempt conditions of the British Military Cemetery at Tilly, Normandy; and if he will take steps to see that the cemetery is put into proper condition.

Mr. Bellenger

The British Military Cemetery at Tilly is now under the care of the Imperial War Graves Commission and is receiving the distinctive treatment accorded to all war cemeteries. It has been sown to grass, which will shortly be ready for its first mowing, and the flower borders have been planted.

Colonel Wheatley

Is the Minister aware that there is no Union Jack flying over this cemetery?

Mr. Bellenger

No, Sir. I was not aware of that, but I will look into the matter.
