HC Deb 06 February 1947 vol 432 cc1960-1
58. Mr. King

asked the Minister of Labour if he will consider issuing to hon. Members bulk supplies of the White Paper, entitled Economic Conditions affecting relations between Employers and Workers, so that they may distribute them to key persons in their constituencies.

Mr. Isaacs

As this paper has been put on sale at 2d. and as over 100,000 copies have already been sold, it is not proposed to offer bulk supplies free to hon. Members. Copies are available through bookstalls or direct from H.M. Stationery Office.

Mr. King

Does the Minister recall that the Highway Code was distributed free by the million, and would he not agree that this is as important?

Mr. Isaacs

It is a matter of practicability. Over 100,000 have been distributed. The employers' associations and the trade unions are buying them in bulk for their members, and bulk supplies to hon. Members of this House might mean a waste because some persons might receive duplicate copies.
