HC Deb 21 April 1947 vol 436 c611
77. Mr. T. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what countries have not contributed to U.N.R.R.A.; and what countries have received assistance from U.N.R.R.A.

Mr. Mayhew

So far as my right hon. Friend is aware, Afghanistan, Argentina, Eire, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Siam, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria and the Lebanon have not contributed to U.N.R.R.A., of which, however, they are not members. On the other hand, of these countries the Argentine, Eire, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland have all made contributions to relief outside U.N.R.R.A. The countries which have received major assistance in proportion to their size and need are Albania, Austria, Byelo-Russia, China, Czechoslovakia, the Dodecanese, Greece, Italy, Poland, San Marino, Ukraine and Yugoslavia. Small emergency assistance has been received by Ethiopia, Finland, Hungary, Korea and the Philippines.
