HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 c335
48. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Labour how many farm workers and farmers aged 25 years and less have been granted suspension of call-up for military service.

Mr. Isaacs

About 110,000 altogether. Separate figures for farmers and farm workers are not available.

Mr. Hurd

Can the Minister tell us it this suspension will be continued after the end of this year?

Mr. Isaacs

At the moment I should not like to say definitely, but I can assure the hon. Gentleman on thee figures that out of the 110,000 the vast majority—over 100,000—will have already passed out of the call-up field and will not be interfered with. The balance are being considered in the light of present circumstances.
