HC Deb 31 October 1946 vol 428 c765
24. Mr. Keeling

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is aware that letters posted in Central London after 6.30 on Friday evening are still not delivered in greater London until Monday morning; and how soon the collections promised for 7.30 p.m. and 9 p.m. will be restored.

Mr. Burke

Yes, Sir. I hope it will be possible to do so shortly after Christmas.

Mr. Keeling

May I ask the hon. Gentleman whether he is still of the grandmotherly opinion, which he held on 6th June, that it is not in the public interest that people should stay up late to write letters?

Mr. Burke

I am not at all grand-motherly, but I am still of that opinion.

An Hon. Member

It is a matter of opinion.
