HC Deb 31 October 1946 vol 428 c785
67. Mr. Wadsworth

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he proposes to take to assist those discharged police pensioners who are now unemployed but unable, because they are police pensioners, to draw unemployment pay and whose pension does not become payable until the official end of hostilities.

Mr. Ede

I assume that my hon. Friend has in mind the cases of men who were dismissed from the police for misconduct after having secured their pensions under the provisions of the Police and Firemen (War Service) Acts, and who thereby become entitled, notwithstanding their dismissal, to receive their pensions when the emergency is declared at an end for the purpose of those Acts. The matter is governed by the statutory provisions, and is not one on which I have power to take any action.
