HC Deb 30 October 1946 vol 428 c600
31. Mr. Spence

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation the reasons for the delay in starting an air service between Aberdeen and London.

Mr. Lindgren

I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to him by my predecessor on 5th June last. I would, however, add that preparations are in hand for the start of a service at an early date between Aberdeen and London, via Prestwick and Glasgow.

Mr. Spence

Is the Minister aware that his predecessor told me that this service would start in October and, without any explanation, he then informed me, in reply to a recent Question, that it would start early next year? Will the hon. Member give a definite date, and an assurance that when the service starts it will be better than the inadequate and obsolete proposals made by his predecessor?

Mr. Lindgren

The service will commence early in November, and I am certain that when it begins the hon. Member will be satisfied.

Mr. Hogg

Is the assurance that the hon. Member has now given worth anything more than the assurance he gave to the friendly societies?
