HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c427
13. Mr. Keeling

asked the Minister of Works how soon the statue of King Charles I will be reinstated in Trafalgar Square.

Mr. Tomlinson

Inspection of the statue has revealed defects in the metal which require repair. The work is of a delicate nature and it is unlikely that the statue can be reinstated in less than six months' time.

Mr. Keeling

May we take it that the Minister will do what he can to hasten the return of what is one of our finest statues?

Mr. Stephen

Cannot the Minister use the metal in this statue for housing purposes?
