HC Deb 23 October 1946 vol 427 cc1652-3
38. Mr. Osborne

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will permit the sale of hangars from redundant aerodromes in North Lincolnshire to private companies for the storage of grain and the packing of foods.

Mr. de Freitas

Spare hangars, of the smaller types that can be taken away, are offered for sale from time to time. Particulars can be obtained locally from our superintending engineers. The allocation of storage space in larger buildings is arranged by the Board of Trade.

Mr. Osborne

Does this include small aerodromes like Waltham and Kelstern, which are two of those I have in mind?

Mr. de Freitas

It is not a question of the size of the aerodrome but of the hangars.

Mr. Osborne

I mean the hangars on those aerodromes.

Mr. de Freitas

If the hon. Member will. get into touch with the local superintending engineer, in this case at Retford, he will find that there are 30 small blister hangars in North Lincolnshire which will shortly be on sale.
