HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 cc1300-1
47. Mr. Gammans

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he is prepared to reconsider his decision not to transfer his office of the Control Commission to Germany.

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr. John Hynd)

No, Sir.

Mr. Gammans

Does the Minister realise that it is quite impossible to administer Germany from St. James's Square; and does he know of some of the delays in getting decisions and that his headquarters are now known as the hindquarters?

Mr. Hynd

The answer to the latter part of the question is "Yes, Sir." As to the first part of the question, I have nothing to add to the reply given by the Prime Minister to the hon. Member for East Aberdeen (Mr. Boothby) on 15th October.
