HC Deb 20 November 1946 vol 430 cc842-3
40. Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation whether meteorological officers have been recruited for airfields on the West African route; and when will the air service to West Africa recommence operations.

Mr. Lindgren

The first part of the Question is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Air. As to the second part of the Question, the air service to West Africa which was suspended on 9th June last on account of the loss of meteorological officers in key positions was restarted on 2nd July.

Air-Commodore Harvey

Will the Parliamentary Secretary consult with his colleague and find out what the position is with regard to this meteorological service, because there is room for improvement?

Mr. Lindgren

That is agreed, and consultation is already proceeding.
