HC Deb 05 November 1946 vol 428 cc1192-3
16. Mr. Digby

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what steps he is taking to increase supplies of paraffin in Dorset, the shortage of which is causing hardship to those living in dwellings without electric light.

The Minister of Fuel and Power (Mr. Shinwell)

From 1st October, the monthly allocation of paraffin oil to all dealers was increased by 10 per cent. on the allocations to them in the corresponding months a year ago, and more oil will, therefore, be available in Dorset and other parts of the country. Persons who are solely dependent on paraffin oil for lighting, heating and cooking, are already assured of the necessary quantities of oil each month under the Kerosene (Paraffin Oil) Priority Scheme.
