6. Commander Noble

asked the Minister of Works how many hotels, large houses, small houses and flats, respectively, in the London Civil Defence region have been derequisitioned by the Government for use as dwelling accommodation since 30th April, 1946.

The total number of hotels, large houses, small houses and flats derequisitioned in the London Civil Defence region between 1st May and 30th September, 1946, was 3,129, made up as follows: 35 hotels, 168 large houses, 2,037 small houses, 889 flats. In addition, requisitioning departments have transferred to the Ministry of Health for housing 283 properties, consisting of: I hotel, 120 large houses, 130 small houses, 32 flats.

asked the Minister of Works when it is expected to derequisition the 27 empty houses in Chelsea held by Government Departments on 30th September.

Mr. Tomlinson

Of the 27 houses concerned, four have been derequisitioned and two placed at the disposal of the housing authorities. The remaining 21 are being re-used and cannot be released.
