asked the President of the Board of Trade what are the present stocks in this country of natural and synthetic rubber, respectively; and when he proposes to release control of the sale of both.

On the 27th September, the Government stocks consisted of 138,958 tons of natural rubber (including latex) and 2,485 tons of synthetic rubber. The rubber manufacturers, also held on that date 17,058 tons of natural and 2,668 tons of synthetic rubber. Any imports of synthetic rubber which may be necessary will be allowed on private account. As regards the release of control on the sale of natural rubber, I would ask the hon. and gallant Member to await the statement which I propose to make at the end of Questions.
