HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 cc1041-2
39. Mr. Cocks

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the Apollo Table Water Factory, Daybrook, Nottingham, has not yet been derequisitioned although the premises of all its local competitors have been restored; that the promise to release the factory by June, 1946, has not been fulfilled and that valuable goodwill is being lost by the delay; and whether he will take immediate steps to get this factory released.

Mr. Marquand

The release of these premises could not be arranged earlier, as they are occupied by the Army Postal Services, whose activities must be maintained. Alternative accommodation will, however, be ready early in the New Year, when the Services will be transferred and the premises derequisitioned.

Mr. Cocks

Is the Minister aware that the Soft Drinks Association has been pressing for the release of this important factory for the last 12 months, that unemployment has been caused and valuable goodwill lost, and will he expedite the removal of this factory from the hands of these War Office limpets?

Mr. Marquand

The Board of Tradehave been pressing, too.
