HC Deb 28 May 1946 vol 423 cc959-60
1. Sir Waldron Smithers

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether Meopham, near Gravesend, is to be the site of one of the new towns; and if he will make a detailed statement on the development proposed.

The Minister of Town and Country Planning (Mr. Silkin)

The matter is under consideration, and I am not at present in a position to make any statement.

Sir W. Smithers

Before the right hon. Gentleman comes to a decision, will he visit the site so that a suitable reception can be prepared for him?

Mr. Silkin

I will certainly visit the site.

Sir W. Smithers

Will the right hon. Gentleman give notice of his visit?

5. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he will give a detailed list of the sites and numbers of the proposed satellite towns.

Mr. Silkin

A new town is to be established at Stevenage. I am not at present in a position to say how many other new towns there will be or where they will be situated.

Sir W. Smithers

May I repeat my supplementary question on Question No. 1?

Mr. Silkin

May I repeat my reply to that supplementary question?
