HC Deb 20 May 1946 vol 423 c7
14. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchison

asked the Minister of Transport if he is yet in a position to make a statement about the resumption of the ferry service between Granton and Burntisland.

Mr. Barnes

This ferry was operated by the London and North Eastern Railway Company, under statutory powers. Under the Private Legislation Procedure (Scotland) Act, 1936, the company has promoted a provisional order for its abandonment, which is at present under consideration in accordance with the procedure laid down by that Act.

Sir William Darling

Can the Minister contemplate the installation of a free ferry across the Forth, as has already been arranged at Woolwich across the Thames?

Mr. Barnes

That appears to be raising another matter.
