asked the Minister of War Transport if he is aware of the poor lighting on the Great West Road; and what steps he intends to take to remedy this.

Yes, Sir. The reason is the need for fuel economy, but I will consider what steps can be taken to improve the present conditions.

Whether it is a question of economy or not, will my right hon. Friend arrange that streets are equidistantly lighted, since at present there are sometimes three lights out and one on?

These matters are very difficult to enforce at the present time, but I will bear that suggestion in mind.
