HC Deb 14 March 1946 vol 420 c1253
4. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Minister of National Insurance whether he has any information as to the effect of the introduction of the National Insurance Bill upon the wage structure of the friendly societies.

Mr. J. Griffiths

No, Sir.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Does that answer mean there is no evidence in the possession of the right hon. Gentleman's Department to the effect that these societies have indulged in wage increases with a view to extracting greater compensation, as alleged by the Parliamentary Secretary at Birmingham on 23rd February?

Mr. Griffiths

I have answered the Question which the hon. Member put on the Order Paper. He has now asked me whether I have any information about the effect of this Bill on the wage structure of any societies. The answer is: "No, Sir."
