HC Deb 12 March 1946 vol 420 cc933-4
30. Mr. Gilzean

asked the Minister of Labour why, in the Resettlement in Civil Life (Interrupted Apprenticeships) Scheme, tailoring and other trades are excluded from the benefits of the scheme.

Mr. Isaacs

The tailoring trade and others in the clothing group of industries are not excluded from the benefits of the scheme for interrupted apprenticeships. The scheme for the ready made and whole- sale bespoke tailoring trade has been completed in consultation with representatives of the trade and is now being printed. Consultations with representatives of the retail tailoring trade are in progress, and arrangements are being made for discussions with representatives of the Wages Council covering other branches of the clothing trade.
