HC Deb 12 March 1946 vol 420 c941
73. Lord John Hope

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can give a date for the commencement of urgent repair work to Holy Cross Academy, Edinburgh.

Mr. Westwood

As has been explained to the hon. Member in correspondence, further repairs to the existing school building are impracticable, and the only satisfactory solution to the accommodation problem at this school is the completion of the unfinished new building. So far the limited supplies of labour and materials available have prevented this, but I hope it will be possible to resume work at an early date.

Lord John Hope

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any idea of when that early date will be?

Mr. Westwood

I cannot, but 1 can promise the Noble Lord that it will be as soon as possible, as soon as materials are available and we can carry through the work.
