HC Deb 07 March 1946 vol 420 cc488-189
31. Major Guy Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many suspected cases of sabotage have been brought to the notice of his Department in the past six months; and whether he has any statement to make on the recent fires at Woolwich Arsenal.

Mr. Ede

None, Sir, but such cases would not necessarily come to the attention of my Department. I understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply, that the recent fires at Woolwich Arsenal are at present under investigation.

Major Lloyd

Could the Home Secretary tell the House whether all the intelligence and detective agencies available to the Home Office would be employed in such circumstances, including M.I.5?

Mr. Ede

It would all depend what the nature of the allegation was. If I am asked by one of my right hon. colleagues to assist him in any of these matters, the resources of my Department are immediately placed at that Department's disposal.
