HC Deb 07 March 1946 vol 420 cc487-8
24. Mr. Lipson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions have been instituted in the last 12 months for which figures are available, against motorists for non-compliance with the pedestrian-crossing- place regulations.

Mr. Ede

Figures for the whole country are not available. During the year 1945, 1,248 summonses were taken out in the Metropolitan Police District for offences by motorists against the pedestrian crossing place regulations.

Mr. Lipson

Can the right hon. Gentleman say, regarding these pedestrians, whether they have priority of passage?

Mr. Ede

I am not called upon to give an interpretation of the law.
