HC Deb 04 March 1946 vol 420 cc34-5
79. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the Dominions of Australia and New Zealand and the Governments of France, the Netherlands and other Powers concerned, will be represented in the new South-east Asia organisation at Singapore; and if there will also be representation of the peoples of Burma, Indonesia, Indo-China and the other indigenous peoples of these territories, whatever their present status

Mr. Noel-Baker

As my hon. Friend is aware, Lord Killearn has been appointed as Special Commissioner in South-East Asia, and the nature of his functions has been explained in an announcement issued by the Foreign Office on 18th February. Lord Killearn will be exclusively responsible to His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and no new Commonwealth or international organisation is being set up.
