§ 7. Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Minister of Works why only 268 of the proposed 877 emergency factory-made houses have so far been handed over in 1787 the Metropolitan borough of Lambeth; and what steps he will take to expedite completion of its full programme.
§ Mr. TomlinsonThe number of sites handed over by the Lambeth Borough Council is 690. Except for 21 houses, the type of temporary house allocated to the council was Uni-Seco. The demand for this type of house has exceeded the rate of production and supplies have had to be rationed. To relieve the situation a number of Arcon houses are being sent to Lambeth.
§ Lieut.-Colonel LiptonIs my right hon. Friend aware that not one factory-made house has been handed over to the borough council down Lambeth way for nearly two months, and will he not give some well merited priority to this borough?
§ Mr. TomlinsonI will look into that. I was not aware of it.
§ Mr. BossomCan the Minister say whether the foundations of the Uni-Seco are equally satisfactory for the Arcon house?
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, the Arcon can be put on the Uni-Seco foundations.
