HC Deb 04 June 1946 vol 423 cc1810-1
56. Mr. Walker-Smith

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether facilities yet exist for remitting money between the United Kingdom and Siam.

Mr. Dalton

No, Sir; but I hope to arrange for banking channels to be reopened shortly.

Mr. W. Fletcher

May I ask the Chancellor whether he is aware that until these facilities are provided the task of moving the vitally needed surplus rice in Siam is made immeasurably more difficult?

Mr. Dalton

Yes, Sir; we are anxious to move it as quickly as we can.
