HC Deb 24 July 1946 vol 426 c33
57. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Minister of Food whether he will arrange for a supply of whole wheat to be available for human consumption, particularly for those for whom wholemeal flour is essential for health.

Dr. Summerskill

My right hon. Friend is arranging for whole wheat to be available, under licence, to householders and institutions for milling into flour for human consumption, but the allowance of bread units will be correspondingly reduced. Wholemeal flour will continue to be available from the usual suppliers.
