HC Deb 24 July 1946 vol 426 c26
40. Mr. William Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the nine cardinal principles laid down in the preamble to the 1941 Constitution of Sarawak will be upheld as promised in the Cession Bill proceedings of the Council N:egri meeting of 17th May, 1946; or whether they will be affected by the coming changes in the constitution.

Mr. George Hall

The nine cardinal principles have been retained in the constitution. They are in general accord with those which govern the administration of other parts of the Colonial Empire; and I see no reason why they should be affected by any future changes in the constitution.
