HC Deb 24 July 1946 vol 426 c33
55. Mr. Morley

asked the Minister of Food why so few rabbits are for sale in the retailers' shops.

Dr. Summerskill

Rabbits are usually scarce at this time of the year because it is the breeding season in this country, and because of the prohibition of exports from Eire. Supplies coming forward from Australia and New Zealand are not sufficient to make good the shortage.

Mr. Norman Bower

Will the hon. Lady consider increasing the supply by offering for sale some of the "rabbits" on the Government Front Bench?

Mr. Speaker

Silly, provocative questions like that are out of place.
