HC Deb 16 July 1946 vol 425 cc1021-2
22. Lieut.-Colonel Sharp

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning whether he has yet received the Report of the Hobhouse Committee on National Parks; and what action is being taken to implement the Committee's recommendation.

Mr. F. Marshall

My right hon. Friend hopes to receive a confidential preliminary memorandum from this Committee within the next three months, and to be able to publish their Report before the end of the year.

Lieut.-Colonel Sharp

In view of the fact that the Minister stated that a Committee had been appointed in August, 1945, which was expected to report to this House or to the right hon. Gentleman within a year, can the Minister say whether he is quite definite that that report will be received at the time stated?

Mr. Marshall

We hope it will be available by the end of the year, but we must recognise that the creation of national parks does raise certain difficult and complex administrative problems.
