HC Deb 09 July 1946 vol 425 c227
46. Mr. Vane

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is the total staff of officer or equivalent grades now working in Germany under the North German Timber Control; how many of such officers have been attached for duty on the Continent from the Forestry Commission; and whether these officers are additional to the 27 who are members of the Control Commission.

Mr. J. Hynd

The total is 213, of whom 28 are from the Forestry Commission. All are members of the British element of the Control Commission of which the North German Timber Control forms part.

Mr. Vane

Is the hon. Gentleman satisfied that we are getting any results from having a very large number of qualified men in Germany, and are we getting any timber in this country as a result?

Mr. Hynd

The answer to both parts of the supplementary question is, "Certainly."
