HC Deb 09 July 1946 vol 425 c236
62. Mr. Teeling

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the present cost per head of providing banquets under the auspices of Government hospitality, if possible, indicating the cost of the food and wine separately.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

It has not been customary to give details of this kind. The total expenditure is, of course, published annually with the Civil Appropriation Accounts.

Mr. Teeling

In view of the fact that it is well known that 25s. a head is the present price, and that the Minister of Food stated that it will be necessary to make it only 12s. 6d., is the price to be cut down by half?

Mr. Glenvil Hall

That question' should be addressed to someone else, not to me.

Mr. Walkden

May I ask my hon. Friend if in the preparation of next year's accounts he will publish information of the allowances he has made to hon. Members on the other side of the House who are in business and get all kinds of relief for banquets and all sorts of entertainments?
