HC Deb 28 February 1946 vol 419 cc2107-8
64. Mr. H. Hynd

asked the Chancel lor of the Exchequer at what rate of interest he is borrowing money to finance the Public Works Loan Board.

Mr. Dalton

The rate of interest charged to local authorities for loans for any given period is the rate which the Treasury is paying, or would have to pay, for loans from the public for the same period. The Local Loans Fund has sufficient moneys in hand to meet the demands of local authorities without fresh borrowing for the present.
