HC Deb 26 February 1946 vol 419 cc1741-2
65. Mr. Champion

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will now make value payments, the amount of which have been agreed, in respect of war damage claims to claimants who have passed the normal age of retiring.

Mr. Dalton

No, Sir. I am afraid I cannot adopt my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Mr. Michael Foot

Will my right hon. Friend undertake to look into this whole matter again, in view of the great hardship being caused to people who have suffered since the blitz? There is strong feeling on this matter in the blitzed areas.

Mr. Dalton

I will certainly look at it again, but the difficulties have been explained to the House more than once.
