HC Deb 25 February 1946 vol 419 c1537
6. Mr. Butcher

asked the Minister of Supply and of Aircraft Production if he will state to the last convenient date the number of Humber cars, being passenger models used for staff purposes, which have been produced for Government Departments since the end of the war with Japan; and whether production of these cars is still continuing for such purposes.

Mr. Wilmot

Between 13th August and 16th February last 318 Humber passenger cars were delivered against the orders of the Service Departments and 49 against those of other Government Departments. I cannot say for what purpose they are needed. There are further cars on order.

Mr. Butcher

Will the right hon. Gentleman make representations to the Service Departments that these cars should not be ordered from his Department while valuable cars worth£1,000 and more each are standing in the open on aerodromes in Northamptonshire?
