§ 21. Sir Arthur Salterasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will arrange for important official re- 1136 ports such as that of the Emergency Economic Committee for Europe, when released for publication, to be procurable by hon. Members and by the public.
§ Mr. BevinAs promised in a reply given to the right hon. Member on 4th February, arrangements have already been made for such reports to be placed in the Library of the House. Copies of reports released to the Press by the Emergency Economic Committee for Europe and the European Coal Organisation may be obtained on application from the offices of these organisations.
§ Sir A. SalterMay I ask my right hon. Friend whether he is aware that a full week after the release of this important report it was completely unknown at the Vote Office, the Stationery Office or the Library?
§ 22. Sir A. Salterasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will arrange for the publication of a White Paper summarising the main facts now available as to the world's requirements and resources of the principal foodstuffs and raw materials; and to have it kept up to date by periodical later issues.
§ Mr. BevinThe right hon. Member will have seen the White Paper on the grain position, Command 6737, which contains some of the desired information. As he is aware, the Emergency Economic Committee for Europe have also published certain information on the European food situation. These publications cover part of the ground, but in addition I will arrange for a White Paper to be prepared periodically summarising such relevant information as is available to His Majesty's Government and can properly be published by them.
