HC Deb 13 February 1946 vol 419 cc366-7
12. Lieut.-Colonel Mackeson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the fact that the recent general strike in Malta was illegal, if he will give an assurance that he will not in any way be influenced by general strikes.

Mr. George Hall

It is really impossible for me to give an assurance in such general terms.

Lieut.-Colonel Mackeson

Can the right hon. Gentleman say if this general strike was an attempt to coerce the Government?

Mr. Hall

No, Sir; I do not think so.

Lieut.-Commander Gurney Braithwaite

What is an illegal strike?
