HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 cc328-9
38. Major Bruce

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what proportion of the skimmed milk ration for normal consumers was met in the North Rhine region in the first three weeks of the 28-day period beginning 14th October.

Mr. J. Hynd

In the towns, normal consumers received on the average about 70 per cent. of the ration; in rural districts it was met in full.

Major Bruce

Could my hon. Friend say whether the proportion is likely to increase in the future?

Mr. Hynd

I hope that the proportion of the ration will increase in the future. The total amount of the ration is another question because, owing to the seasonal shortage in the production of milk, it may be necessary that the ration of this particular food should be reduced owing to the quantities available.
