HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c27
49. Mr. Champion

asked the Minister of Agriculture what progress has been made in the preparation by the Trent Catchment Board of a scheme to prevent the flooding of the River Trent; and if he will take immediate emergency remedial measures to deal with the flood waters caused by heavy rainfalls, which cause widespread damage to property and are a continual source of apprehension to the people living in the Trent catchment area.

Mr. T. Williams

The main river improvement scheme of the River Trent Catchment Board was begun in 1936 and made steady progress up to the outbreak of war. Only a limited amount of work could be done during the war years. Since then, the rate of progress has been accelerated and particular attention is being given to the alleviation of flooding in and around Nottingham.
