HC Deb 11 April 1946 vol 421 cc2093-4
48. Mr. J. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Labour what delay exists in the allocation of courses of painting and decorating at Government training centres.

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Isaacs)

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for East Grinstead (Colonel Clarke) on 2nd April.

Mr. Langford-Holt

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I have here a case of a man who was released from the Army last November and who was informed by the Department of the right hon. Gentleman that no vacancy would be available for at least six months? In view of the fact that such men depend for their livelihood upon these courses, will the right hon Gentleman do his utmost to ensure that more speedy machinery comes into operation?

Mr. lsaacs

If the hon. Gentleman will let me have that information which he says he has in his pocket, I will have a look at it.

Captain Crookshank

Is this delay due to a shortage of paint?
