63. Mr. De la Bèreasked the Minister of Food the result of the recent comprehensive survey of all the available wheat supplies; if he is aware that unnecessarily large quantities are being retained in certain areas throughout the world for cattle feed owing to the fixing of prices which are not considered adequate by the present holders of the wheat supplies; and if this matter has been considered by the Food Board.
§ Sir B. SmithI would refer the hon. Member to the statement which I made to the House on 4th April.
Mr. De la BèreIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that that statement did not really help the position very much and that this is a real cause of hardship for many of these people who are men of modest means and cannot afford to carry on at these prices?
§ Mr. H. HyndIs not that supplementary question thoroughly unsatisfactory?
§ Sir B. SmithWith great respect, I think the supplementary question had reference to another Question.
Mr. De la BèreMay I express my apologies to the House? May I address myself to the Question? I am afraid I inadvertently took one Question before the other.
§ Mr. SpeakerThe hon. Gentleman cannot refer to that Question now.
