§ 77. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Secretary of State for War if he will provide the number of training establishments and the number of acres of land held by his Department in the county of Monmouth
Mr. BellenģerThe War Department holds six training areas wholly in the county of Monmouth and two partly in Monmouth. Seventy acres of land are held under Defence Regulation 51 for training purposes, and training rights over a further 5,338 acres are exercised under Defence Regulation 52 without dispossessing the owner or occupier.
§ Mr. FreemanCan the War Office give up any of these areas?
Mr. BellenģerIt is not possible to say at the moment whether it is possible to give up any of these areas, but I am optimistic that we shall be able to do so.
