§ 68. Briģadier Low
asked the Secretary of State for War approximately how many men are employed in guarding and/or maintaining British surplus war material in Europe.
I regret that it is not possible to give exact figures of the numbers employed in guarding or maintaining surplus stores, as these stores are normally held at the same depots as those which are still required. The following numbers are estimated to be engaged solely on looking after surplus stores: B. A. O. R.,1,000;C. M. F., 800.
