HC Deb 08 April 1946 vol 421 c1619
7. Mr. Derek Walker-Smith

asked the Minister of Supply if, in reckoning service in connection with discharges for redundancy in royal ordnance factories, he will allow service in the Armed Forces to be reckoned as industrial service.

Mr. Wilmot

Under existing agreements made with the trade unions on the Ministry of Supply Joint Industrial Council, military service reckons for industrial seniority in the case of those who were in our employment before joining the Armed Forces but not in the case of others.

Mr. Walker-Smith

Will the right hon. Gentleman say whether that means that, in the discharging for redundancy, those who were in ordnance factories before the war are entitled to count the full period of their service?

Mr. Wilmot

Yes, Sir.
