HC Deb 08 April 1946 vol 421 c1649
53. Captain Charles Smith

asked the Minister of Agriculture what progress has been made with clearing the fishing grounds off the North-east Essex coast of war debris.

Mr. T. Williams

As I explained to my hon. and gallant Friend on 17th December last, arrangements were then being made by the Departments concerned for the removal of those obstructions that were causing the greatest inconvenience to the local fishermen. Owing to weather conditions and other circumstances, it has not yet been possible to complete the work, but I am informed that operations are in progress, although some technical difficulties are being encountered. The latest information that I have received is to the effect that three of the R.A.S.C. boat mooring have already been removed.
